The Center is a non-profit corporation incorporated in the state of Maryland.  All donations are tax-deductible.

      Funds donated to the Center are used in our work of enabling and expanding direct payments projects through the services we provide on our website, and as financial support to individual projects.   Our website provides a comprehensive list of existing direct payment projects as well as those currently being developed.  By providing a centralized location for direct payments projects, we hope to raise the visibility of their benefits, as well as assist in connecting donors with projects to ensure lasting protection for the species involved.  Our goal is to work with existing projects to expand their scope, and help develop and implement new projects on a continuous basis.  The results of such projects will be available for the information of both donors and researchers.

     Even in the eventual absence of payments, integrating local communities and individuals in the management of resources will raise local awareness of conservation issues and pave the way to the long-run achievement of biodiversity goals.
